This page provides an overview of our activities and achievements to date.

  • Scottish Tourism Week 2007, 12th - 16th March - STW encouraged increased business to business engagement within the tourism sector, lobbied politicians to engage with tourism businesses in order to better understand the issues facing tourism businesses and generally highlighted the importance of tourism to the Scottish economy through a series of meetings, events and activities across the country.
  • Manifesto: Profitable growth for a sustainable future - through full consultation with our members STF launched an industry manifesto for Scottish tourism which calls out for a business agenda across all government levels that will work in partnership with the industry for the profitable and sustainable growth of Scottish tourism.
  • Scottish Tourism Week 2006 - First ever national week to celebrate the importance of tourism to the economy. Over 1,000 businesses attended a series of events and over 40 MSPs met with tourism businesses to better understand tourism matters across the country.
  • Private Drinking Water Supplies - STF campaigned on behalf of small businesses to win better terms within new legislation.
  • Skills Summit - STF called together the main support bodies involved in skills/training to get a 'better result' for tourism. People 1st charged with follow through from meetings.
  • Tourism Framework for Change - STF played lead role in gathering industry input through online survey, meetings and interviews. TFFC Launched March 06 by Minister for Tourism and Chairman of STF.
  • Tourism Network Scotland - STF will continue to represent industry and ensure high levels of industry involvement as the project is rolled out between now and April 2005.
  • Enterprise and Culture Committee meeting, November 2004 - STF submission of oral evidence to enquiry into the review of the ATB network.
  • Pride and Passion - management and strategic development support to one of the most ambitious 'industry-change' programmes introduced to Scottish Tourism.
  • Tourism Framework for Action 2002-2005 - a partner in its development and implementation, published March 2002.
  • News coverage - ongoing and regular media coverage and comment from the tourism business perspective.
  • Tourism Innovation Group - support and direction to help tourism's innovation agenda.
  • VisitScotland.com - representation on industry advisory panel.
  • Scotland United - the Forum continues to play an important role in the direction and management of 'The Industry Conference'.
  • British Tourism Development Committee - representation for Scotland at this important UK wide liaison group.
  • Tourism Skills - involvement with the Sector Skills Council board and People First Scottish Tourism Enablers board.
  • VisitScotland 2004 - 2025 Tourism Planning Group Westminster Parliamentary Committee Inquiry into Tourism - submission of written and oral evidence; report published February 2003.
  • Enterprise and Lifelong Learning Committee Inquiry into Tourism - submission of oral evidence; report published January 2003.
  • Foot and Mouth Inquiry - Royal Society of Edinburgh Inquiry member. Report published July 2002.
  • The Rail Industry - submission to Scottish Parliament Transport and Environment Committee, June 2002.
  • Land Reform Bill and Countryside Access Code - submission to Scottish Parliament, June 2001
