15 Nov Feature on Economy, Energy and Tourism Committee's Tourism Revenue Growth Inquiry. The article claimed that "an ambitious tourism target could be scrapped after the Scottish Parliament said the original goal could be a "challenge" for the sector." Iain Herbert, Chief Executive of STF, clarified that the 50% figure wasn't a target but was meant instead to focus the tourism sector and encourage government support.
Iain commented: "The publicity makes it look like a government target but it was an industry-led initiative. It's very much something to aim for rather than a target. 50% growth should be achieved by the industry as a whole and announcements like the Commonwealth Games will help. I think it's a good thing to look at how we are going to reach the target and gives the industry an opportunity to work with the government" - Scottish Licensed Trade News (no online version)
