Pride & Passion

Pride & Passion is a campaign to encourage and help tourism businesses to put the customer experience at the heart of all they do. The idea is, if people have great visitor experiences, Scottish tourism will reap the benefit in the form of increased spend on visits, plus repeat and referred business.

Vision

Pride & Passion's vision is that Scotland consistently offers its visitors a distinctive and exceptional experience in a relaxed and authentic way.

Visitors want to feel valued and special, to receive kindly treatment, have an authentic Scottish experience and feel like they have had value for money at whatever price they are paying. This campaign will inspire a changing of hearts and minds in attitudes towards visitors in order to deliver and exceed those expectations.

Friends programme - 'tell one person; do one thing'

A key part of the campaign has been the development of the 'Friends' programme. This is a network of tourism business operators and workers who've said they share the ambition to provide ever-improving experiences. They've indicated willingness to align how they do what they do with the Pride & Passion vision. In addition, they're trying to spread that view among their peers in the industry. The more people are aware of Pride & Passion and 'joined in' with the spirit and practice, the stronger and more influential the movement will get, so this 'viral spread' is key.

The message the Friends are taking out in the industry is 'if you think this is a good idea, tell one person about it and do one thing to make a difference to the visitor experience'.
