David Maguire
David has 30 years in the hospitality business, which first began when he set up a catering company whilst at still at university studying law. David set up a food service company which ran successfully for 15 years and was eventually sold this onto a national company, where David was UK Sales Director for four years.
David then established and ran a successful import company specialising in liquor products from Mexico. This was followed by setting up his first two Mexican restaurants 'Cantina del Rey', and 'Salsa' followed by 'Lux' and 'Stazione' in Great Western Road, Glasgow.
Not one for idleness David established an internet company called 5pm.co.uk specialising in on-line restaurant bookings. All his restaurants are now leased to third parties and David's involvement with 5pm is now that simply as shareholder.
David owns and manages a small number of commercial properties in Glasgow and Switzerland.
David held the roles of Secretary, Treasurer and Vice Chairperson for Glasgow Restaurateurs Association before resigning in 2002 to live in Switzerland.
David was Vice Chair and Secretary for 11 years for Loretto Housing Association, the largest provider of special needs accommodation and care in Scotland. He was panel member of Princes Scottish Business Youth Trust for 10 years, assessing business proposals from young people for funding grants.
David is married with three children.
