Scottish tourism week; tourism hustings
Symposium Hall, The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh
Thurs 15th March, 1pm - 3pm
Co-presented by the Scottish Tourism Forum and Tourism Society Scotland.
As a Scottish Parliamentary election approaches Scotland's political parties are publishing their manifestos and setting out their stalls.
The big question is which party will be in the driving seat after May - and what are their plans for the tourism industry? Will the Tourism Framework for Change survive any transition? Do the SNP really intend to merge VisitScotland and Scottish Enterprise? What are the Scottish Green Party's views on the Route Development Fund?
What do Scotland's MSPs propose to do for Scotland's tourism industry? These were the questions posed at what was one of the most exciting and dynamic events of the week!
Spokespersons from the main political parties were on stage to debate Scottish tourism and took questions from the audience.
The event was facilitated by John Hatfield and supported by the Royal College of Surgeons and featured the following political speakers:
- Brian Adam, SNP, MSP Aberdeen North
- Richard Baker, Labour, MSP North East
- Chris Ballance, Scottish Green Party Tourism Spokesperson, MSP South West Scotland
- Felicity Garvie, International Coordinator, Scottish Socialists Party
- Jamie McGrigor, Scottish Conservatives Tourism Spokesperson, MSP Highlands & Islands
- Scottish Liberal Democrats were invited but did not participate!
