Chris Taylor, Head of Tourism, Food & Drink, HIE
Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) is the Scottish Government's economic and community development agency for a diverse region which covers more than half of Scotland. Chris leads HIE's efforts in two of the Governments six key sectors: Tourism and Food & Drink. Based in Inverness, he manages a small team which supports several hundred high growth businesses with sector specific tools (business analytics, leadership, as well as intelligence, trends, best practice and support networks. The team also initiates a number of larger strategic projects and is responsible for sectoral policy and guidance. From a background in the visitor attraction sector, Chris moved to HIE in the mid 90's and has spent time in a variety of posts on skills, business growth, sustainability and a short spell in the Cairngorms National Park working on brand management, training, food & drink and transport. He has also worked as a toilet cleaner, delivery driver and bouncer as well as various less glamorous jobs.
