Ross Anderson

Ross Anderson is a retired town planner, landscape architect and Fellow of the Tourism Society. He was a founding partner of the ASH Consulting Group, ASH Gulf in Qatar, and EDP in southern Africa. Professionally Ross was closely involved in urban rehabilitation, greenbelt management, skiing developments at Cairngorm and Aonach  Mor, numerous environmental impact statements, and prepared visitor management plans for Hadrian`s Wall, Avebury and Sterckfontein World heritage sites. On retirement he became a  regular member of the GTBS " roadshow"  and has talked about his experience of green tourism all over the UK , Ireland, the Channel Islands, Estonia.and South Africa.

Currently his time is taken up by helping run a self-catering cottage business and a small holding. He is also a committee member of the ASSC (Association of Scotlands Self-Caterers) with special responsibility for green issues, a committee member of SCNP (Scottish Campaign for National Parks), a core member of the Renfrewshire Access Forum, the Clyde Muirshiel Regional Park Consultative Committee and a voluntary ranger for Sustrans. Recently he has spent a great deal of time helping protect the designated landscapes of the Regional Park from proposed wind farm developments.

In 1994 Ross, and his wife Janet, bought an almost derelict East Lochhead Farm near Lochwinnoch in Renfrewshire and began restoring and developing the property into an award winning tourism business with the environment and sustainability an essential element of  the process. They are Gold level members of the Green Tourism Business Scheme and have won a number of awards including Thistle Awards for Customer Care and Sustainable Tourism in 2001 and  2006 respectively.
